"Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos."
- Stephen Sondheim
Theatre designer. Storyteller. Artist.
I believe theatre can change people’s way of thinking by presenting things in a way they have not experienced before. Theatre is fueled by ideas. It is a way for a small, temporary community to come together and hear what artists have to say. Theatre can connect with an audience the way other mediums cannot because there is a sense of unity between spectator and performer. It brings ideas to people’s feet in a way they cannot ignore. Whether they agree with what artists are trying to convey or not, it is still a monumental experience. As a designer, I am faced with the task of creating art that supports the source material, the performers, other designers, and directors, while still maintaining my own sense of artistic identity.
Currently reside in Medford OR and seeking out projects throughout the Rogue Valley. My long term goal is to earn a MFA in Costume Design. Contact me by email at alayna.d.riley@gmail.com
